My favourite Foundation Brush

Lets talk about how you apply your foundation..

First of all, there’s no right or wrong way. If it’s working for you, keep doing it but if not, here are a few makeup tips to keep in mind..

Applying too much foundation all in one go can leave it looking a bit cakey and heavy

If you use your fingers, try applying a little bit at a time, starting in areas where you need it most (often around cheeks/nose/mouth and working out towards the jawline. The key to flawless makeup (apart from what lies underneath) is not applying to much at once. In fact, as we get older, that sweet spot of just applying what we need and no more is the key.

If you use a sponge don’t forget it can absorb up to 60% of your product

That’s not good news if you’re trying to save money. If you love your sponge, try applying your foundation with your fingers and go over it right at the end to blend out any lines.

If you haven’t yet used a brush for your foundation but would like to try, here are three of my favourites

The Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush

Short haired and dense to press product in but still soft enough to ensure your foundation is not left streaky on the face.

Don’t forget to Look Fantastic code LFTFDOLLY for 20% off

The IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Brush

Dual ended for foundation on one end and concealer on the other

Don’t forget to use Look Fantastic Code LFTFDOLLY for 20% off

Budget friendly Kabuki Brush from Amazon

I have several of these brushes and find them to be a lovely mix of firm enough to press foundation into the skin but soft enough for buffing product in.

Don’t forget, if you really want to learn how to apply your makeup, book a makeup lesson!

Based in Belfast (East Belfast) I have a wonderful client group of over 40’s who want to relearn how to apply their makeup and learn new skills to suit their changing faces. Book now using the button below
